Kegel, Edward (Eduard Kegel), 1874-77 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *13.2.1821 Rosenthal/Rożental, district of Samter-Birnbaum/Szamotuły-Międzychód (or Durowo, district of Wongrowitz/Wągrowiec), †2.3.1900 Krotoschin/Krotoszyn, Catholic priest. After completing his studies at the Maria-Magdalena grammar school in Poznan he studied at the theological colleges in Poznan and Gniezno, and finally at the Royal Theological and Philosophical Academy in Münster and was ordained a priest in 1845. From 1845 to 1848 he was a provost in Schwersenz/Swarzędz; between 1840 and 1861 he taught religion at the grammar school and was a deacon and provost from 1861 to 1869 in Tremessen/Trzemeszno. From 1869 to 1900 he was a provost in Krotoschin. In January 1874 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Krotoschin with a majority of 70.3%. In May 1895 he was made an honorary doctor of the Royal Theological and Philosophical Academy in Münster.
