Trąmpczyński, Wojciech (Wojciech Otto-Trąmpczyński, Adalbert von Trampczynski), 1910-18 member of the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian Landtag, 1912-18 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *8.2.1860 Gut Eichhof/Dębłowo Szlacheckie near Gniezno, †2.9.1953 Poznań, lawyer and notary. Son of the estate owners Alexei Cyprian Trąmpczyński (1812-1863) and Emilia Biederman (1827-1868): the latter died during his childhood. 1877: A-levels at the Maria-Magdalena grammar school in Poznan. Law studies at the universities of Berlin and Breslau. 1881: Doctor of Law in Breslau. After passing his trainee examination he opened a solicitor’s office in Poznan. He specialised in property law and defended people’s property rights, (especially those of Polish people) against the Prussian state, and in political trials. From 1892 onwards he worked as a notary. In 1901 he became a municipal councillor in Poznan. He participated in demonstrations during the Wreschen School Strike and was a defence lawyer in the subsequent trials. In January 1912 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Inowrazlaw-Mogilno/Inowrocław-Mogilno with a majority of 65.08%. He was a member of select committees on protective custody, trade and industry, the Reich budget, the law on unions, and housing. In 1918 he was a member of the Naczelna Rada Ludowa/National People’s Council. From 1918 to 1922 he was a member of, and speaker of the Sejm Ustawodawczy/Constituent National Assembly, and from 1928 to 1935 a member of the Sejm. During the Second World War he lived in Warsaw, and from the start of the Warsaw Uprising in Milanówek. In 1945 he returned to Poznań. picture: ca.1923, public domain.
