Photographs are a key source of information for any research into the history of the Polish diaspora in France. The same is also true of the Polish community in the potash basin (Bassin Potassique) in Alsace, where photographs bear witness to everyday life and are of incalculable value as historical documents. The images shown here from 1924–1965 are now in the Archive of the Polish Catholic Mission (Polska Misja Katolicka) in France, inventory no. 50. We have Mr Jean Chęciński to thank for the photographs, who in 2020 expressed a wish to donate his extensive photographic collection, which documented the activities of the Polish diaspora in the Bassin Potassique.
