Krzymiński, Józef (Josef von Krzyminski), 1894-1907 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *1.3.1858 Kaleje near Schrimm/Śrem, †20.10.1940 in the concentration camp at Hohensalza/Inowrocław, a physician and son of an estate owner. After attending grammar schools in Schrimm and Lissa/Leszno he studied medicine in Greifswald, from 1882 onwards in Berlin, where he graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1885. From 1884 onwards he was a GP in Inowrazlaw/Inowrocław. Starting in 1889 he was an active member of the Polish gymnastics club Sokół, for whom he developed gymnastics rules from a medical point of view in 1891. Between 1889 and 1905 he was a municipal councillor in Inowrazlaw, and an active opponent of the renaming of the town to Hohensalza in 1904. In 1893 he was one of the cofounders of the newspaper and publishing house, Dziennik Kujawski. In May 1894 he was elected to replace the retiring MP Józef Kościelski (Joseph von Kosciol-Koscielski, 1845-1911) as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Inowrazlaw-Mogilno/Inowrocław-Mogilno with a majority of 71.74%; in June 1898 and in June 1903 with majorities of 70% and 69.2% respectively. In 1918 he was a member of the Workers and Soldiers Council and the District People’s Council. Between 1920 and 1928 he was the chairman of the board of the Bank Związku Spółek Zarobkowych SA in Poznan. In 1923 he was awarded the Officers Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta. In 1927 he was the chair of the Association of Doctors. After he had organised a citizens’ army in September 1939 in Hohensalza, he was arrested by the Nazis in March 1940 and died in the concentration camp at Hohensalza.
