Magdziński, Teofil (Theophil Magdzinski), 1872-89 member of the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian Landtag, 1877-89 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *13.10.1818 Samter/Szamotuły, †4.2.1889 Bromberg, lawyer, farmer, son of a postmaster. After finishing school at the Maria-Magdalena grammar school in Poznan in 1834 he studied law and fiscal accounting in Breslau, Berlin and Leipzig. His first post was at the city court in Berlin, subsequently he worked in Poznan. Lieutenant in the Territorial Army. In 1845 he participated in the plot laid by the Towarzystwo Demokratyczne Polskie/Polish Democratic Society in Poznan and was one of the leaders of the 1846 Greater Poland Uprising in Samogitien/Żmudź (Lithuania). In February 1846 he was arrested by the Prussian troops but was able to flee into exile in France where he lived until 1848. During the 1848 Revolution he was the deputy commander of the Polish Legion. Between 1849 and 1853 he was a farmer in the district of Wongrowitz/Wągrowiec. From 1853 to 1864 he lived in Congress Poland and participated in the 1863 Uprising. In 1864 he went to Bromberg, where he was a municipal councillor, deputy chair of the board of management of the Bromberger Gewerbebank, chair of the Catholic board of management and curator of the Catholic Home for Orphans and Babies. In January 1877 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Krotoschin/Krotoszyn with a majority of 77.12%; in July 1878 with a majority of 73.62% for the constituency of Kosten-Buk/Kościan-Buk; in October 1881, October 1884 and February 1887 for the constituency of Wreschen-Pleschen/Września-Pleszew with majorities of 81.85%, 81.66% and 79.8% respectively. He served on several occasions as a member of the select committee for judicature law.
