A few years ago, a Pole living in a neighbouring town, a member of the Polish Motorcycle Brotherhood Abroad, became interested in the quite damaged and even partly devastated monument. On the pedestal of the cross, there was a square recess with the remains of metal parts, which were probably the fastenings of an information plate. Next to it, there were some letters, no longer readable. After the first provisional cleaning of the surface, a Polish text was partially legible:

1939 – 45 „ŚPIJ KOLEGO W CIEMNYM GROBIE NIECH SIĘ POLSKA PRZYŚNI TOBIE”

[1939 - 45 "SLEEP, MY FRIEND, IN A DARK GRAVE, MAY YOU DREAM OF POLAND"]

And the following names:

Marszalek Zygmund, Gora Mieczysław, Kolpacka Maria, Kozak Josef, Fabian Bronisław, Szumilas Josee, Malawska Maria, Gabas Wacław, Nurkowski Stefan, Stolarczyk Tadeusz, Wojcik Janina, Pyszak Henryk.

Only four of the names on the memorial are on the aforementioned personal list. The Polish Motorcycle Brotherhood Abroad decided to take care of this site. They collected the available information, and a Pole living nearby, Mr. Sołtysek, painted the Mother of God and Child in the recess on a plaque, modelled on the image of the Madonna of Jasna Góra. The inscription was cleaned and renovated with paint. The Polish monument still requires basic renovation and professional preservation work that will restore it to the function of a protected memorial, guaranteed by international agreements, informing about the fate of Polish victims of World War II buried in this place.
